Dana Inn 16DANA INN AND MARINA RENOVATION
San Diego, California

This project involved the expansion of an existing group of wood frame structures located along the Mission Bay Marina area. The new work contains the addition of two three-story guestroom buildings, accommodating a total of 74 new suites and rooms. Amenities included in the new expansion work are a ballroom conference center, an interior/exterior pre-function area, new lounge/bar, pool with spa, and back-of-the-house supporting areas. Complementing the guestroom buildings, a new reception with lobby area, offices, and two new parking lots provide the necessary logistical support for the new facility. All new guestrooms and suites optimize their view to Mission Bay by stepping back at each floor and articulating at each room which provides a smaller and more pleasant pedestrian scale. It creates an atmosphere of vacation ambience and intimacy that is highly desirable.

44 Monroe44 MONROE
Phoenix, Arizona

Located just steps away from the hub of Phoenix’s cultural and entertainment venue district, this 523,619 SF, 34-story high-rise residential tower has panoramic city and mountain views. The design of this project incorporates the use of vertical movement from the exterior of the building. The five vertical fins that extend beyond the front of the structure are a repeating design element that can be found throughout the interiors as well. Five elements from the natural world – earth, water, metal, fire, and stone – were chosen in the design. These five elements were extrapolated from an interpretation of a painting by the artist Jennifer J.L. Jones. This painting and the beautiful Arizona sunsets were the inspiration for the color palette used throughout the interior. The linear elements and color palette form a cohesive design use throughout the tower from the lobby to the penthouse suites. The lobby will consist of a furnished seating area, dramatic lighting fixture, and terrazzo and wood flooring. The tower will have state-of-the-art features that will include: a fitness center, sound proof meeting room, business center with computer stations and wireless Internet access, entertainment room, catering kitchen, and swimming pool nestled within a 20-foot high great room with open access to the spa and sundeck.
